Our Mission:
Playworks non-profit organization operating programs in 24 elementary schools throughout Silicon Valley, primarily in San Jose. Our mission is to create inclusive environments for all children to participate in safe, healthy play. We operate school-time, after school and sports programs that focus on cooperation and conflict resolution skills and breaking down gender and competition barriers. Integration of these principles in games delivers them in a child-accessible way and motivates children to create an inclusive environment for their peers. When children feel confident engaging in safe, healthy play, it also improves their performance in the classroom. Our surveys have shown that majority of students are more motivated to attend school and focused in the classroom as a result of our programs.
